MoveOn.org’s Spazztic Email list

This is something that has been pissing me off long before Obama was even elected. MoveOn is great at getting people riled up. Then you have all of these energies going every which way and nothing is ever focus into action. Most often they are asking people just to donate to “Lieberman’s Dem opponent” or something of the sort. Some of that is necessary, but it’s the same drum beat every time. The emails just get people upset and all they want to do is blog, or post angry comments, which are not getting the job done. Even worse their emails make people so angry it paralyzes them.

So finally I unsubscribed and left this comment for the folks at MoveOn:

“Emails appear to be knee jerk reactions to current events causing more alarm than offering constructive solutions.

I will still continue to support MoveOn.org as an organization, because I believe on a whole MoveOn has the potential to provide a great online organizing community. But I respectfully disagree with the use of your email list. Thank you for all of the other things you do well.”

Don’t ask me what else they do well, because I will have a hard time listing them. Now I do want to make it clear there are some great folks who work for MoveOn. I know some personally, and I know for a fact they are some extremely hard working. I’m sure they are doing some great things to improve MoveOn.org, and fight for issues that are important to all of us.

Note: I receive an email auto response from MoveOn that assumed my problem was with the quantity of emails received and not the quality.

I rest my case.
